Abundance vs Scarcity

I’ve been wanting to write about this topic for so long. I’ve been practicing the action of moving from scarcity to abundance for quite some time. It takes constant effort and reprogramming. Some may think it’s new agey and that our thoughts and words don’t really have power. As we pay closer attention to what we’re thinking about, the words we speak, we can start to identify whether or not these thoughts and words come from a place of abundant thinking or scarce (lack) thinking. Ask yourself, “Am I functioning out of a place of abundance or scarcity?” I wonder how often we don’t hit our goals because we’re functioning from a place of scarcity vs a place of abundance. I wonder how often we miss out on opportunities because we’re choosing to act based on thoughts of lack or “there isn’t enough”. I did a poll on IG and Facebook about what abundance means to you. I think often we can think of abundance in only terms of money and what being abundant can monetarily give us. It was so refreshing to hear what abundance means to you beyond money.

“Waking up in the morning makes me feel abundant.”

“I feel abundant when I’m with my family.”

“When my heart is full, I feel abundant.”

“When I am walking in my purpose, I feel abundant.”

“Reading the word brings me abundance.”

“Time freedom makes me feel abundant.”

I just love all of these. It goes to show that money isn’t the only thing that brings us abundance. We can be financially abundant, spiritually abundant, physically abundant and even relationally abundant. I’m briefly breaking down each of these for the next time you fall into that scarcity trap.

Financial Abundance- First things first, we have to break any generational curses that prevent us from making money. There are people who deep down subconsciously believe they don’t have the ability to make money. There are also people who won’t ever exceed making a certain amount because subconsciously they don’t feel they can. I have had to rewire my thinking around money and break thought patterns from my parents and even their parents. This is so important because you could be carrying other people’s beliefs and you don’t even realize that’s what’s holding you back. I do also believe in the power of affirmations……when they’re followed by work. Affirmations don’t work if we don’t. If you’re someone who loves affirmations, & you feel they have helped you in the past, I have used this one for the last several years. “Money flows to me effortlessly. My wallet is always overflowing with money. I have the ability to make money, and to help people make money.”

Spiritually Abundant- Let’s talk humility. Humility is the easiest way to keep us grounded spiritually so that we flow from a place of abundance, believing God will provide everything we need. When we are nourishing our souls and feeding our spirit, it’s easy to understand that we serve an abundant God. Scarcity talk will remove us further away from His word, His love and the life He has planned for us. Which is, you guessed it, a life of ABUNDANCE. Being spiritually abundant means we are serving, we are feeding our minds with positivity, and we are walking in our purpose. We start to move from a place of overflow vs a place of lack. Be in a constant state of gratitude and pay attention to how your life will start to shift and how abundance freely moves towards you.

Physically Abundant- We all have different goals when it comes to our physical health. Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel as though being physically abundant can be as simple as just feeling great. So often, we settle for feeling mediocre. We put terrible things into our bodies. We don’t make the time for self care. We don’t spend enough time alone. We don’t eat enough or we over-consume. All of which comes from a scarcity mindset. You may not want a six pack or huge quads, but you deserve to feel great. Being physically abundant means we make the time to move our bodies. It means we put nourishing whole foods into our bodies. It means we take the time to rest. All of these things expand and open us up for healthier thriving bodies…abundant bodies.

Relationally Abundant- When your circle starts become smaller and you find yourself evaluating relationships, you’re beginning to move from scarcity to abundance. Sometimes, we surround ourselves with people we don’t even like. We call people friends when they don’t even check in on us. We put ourselves in toxic relationships or even worse, stay in toxic relationships because we don’t feel there is anything better. We cling and we cling to chaos because there couldn’t possibly be anything better out there for us. “This is as good as it’s gona get” mentality. News flash!!!! It gets so much better when we let go. When we hold onto people because we believe love and relationships are scarce, we block off any potential for the new to come in. I promise letting go creates room for healthy, life giving relationships.

When we let go of ideas and thoughts that don’t serve us, whether it be related to finances, relationships, self image or spirituality, we begin to shed each layer of uncertainty. We let go of self doubt, negative self talk, and false beliefs that tell us we can’t nor do we deserve everything we want in life. We begin to shed away that scarcity mentality that keeps us trapped. Abundance is our birthright. There is enough for everyone. You lack ABSOLUTELY nothing. Start making room for what you prayed for cause it’s on the way.
