What is Liv Reading?

Faith

I cannot even begin to explain to you how much this book changed me. The entire theme of the book is how to be “Battle Ready”. I started reading this right after the first round of quarantine at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The timing could not have been better. The Way of the Warrior helped me develop the correct armour to get through everything life was throwing at me. This read will most definitely have you have battle ready for whatever life throws at you.

Another one of Erwin McManus’s phenomenal pieces of writing. By chapter 2 you already reevaluating your life and if you’ve given it everything you have or if you’ve thrown in the towel early. When you strike the last arrow, how will people remember you?

I don’t know if you can relate to this but I grew up always feeling like I was different. I couldn’t pinpoint it, just knew I was different. If you can relate, this book explains it all. I went from feeling left out and uninvited to accepted and invited by the only One who really matters. Your entire teenage years will all make sense after reading this.

Personal Development/Mindset

My mentor asked me to read this book shortly after he started coaching me. This book is a GREAT book if you’re in any type of leadership. Whether you manage a handful of employees or you’re leading a huge team of entrepreneurs, this book teaches you how to take care of your people.

For those of you who are just starting out in discovering who you really are and your design, I highly recommend The Road Back to You. There is an emphasis on the enneagram and the 9 types but it’s definitely a beginner guide to the 9 types. It helps each type identify with their core fears, in addition to how they can start to find the road back to their authentic self.

My absolute favorite book related to all things enneagram. I read this book during one of the most difficult times of my life. It helped me navigate through all of the confusion and really helped me tap into who I was created to be. What makes me tick, what scares me, how I interact with other people etc. It has helped me learn how to love other people and have thriving relationships. If you’re an enneagram lover, I promise you this book will change your life if it hasn’t already.

I don’t know if you need reminding of this, but you are!!! This was the first book I read after college and it was just the kick I needed to get started on my journey post education. Sometimes we just need a little reminding :)

Business

All of the highs, lows, and in betweens you’re experiencing with your new business are explained in this book. If you shop on Nasty Gal, it all started with Sophia’s dream. From working in a small space to being the first online retailer, this book is a must if you’re new in business. Stay the course.

Grant Cardone…love him or hate him, the man is a self made millionaire. This is a super easy and quick read. I read this on the flight back from Mexico and it changed how I think about what I do. So often, we let our friends and family talk us out of our dreams because they’ve talked themselves out of theirs. If you want different, you have to move different. You have to be obsessed.

Another quarantine read but by far the most impactful. We go through the motions everyday but if we’re not careful, we can become complacent and forget that we were created on purpose for a purpose. Why do you do what you do? Who are you here for?
